All information while using the App will be kept strictly confidential and is anonymised. We will collect analytics data tracking how long you use the App, which screens you view, how long you view these screens, the country you use the App from, the Tailors you generate. Optionally you can let us know your age group, the kind of tinnitus you have, its severity, how it sounds to you and if you know the cause of it. The phone also generates a random user-ID which is transmitted to the Google server and attached to the data.
The security of your personal information is important to us. We collect, store and process all personal information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (2018). We are registered in the UK as a data controller/processor, with registration reference ZA405189. To guarantee maximum privacy your personal data is anonymised on your phone using your random ID, encrypted and then transmitted to a secure server hosted by Google. You need to specifically opt in that data is transmitted to the Google servers and you can opt out any time. The data will be used to determine if the app is working properly and how it can be improved. Tinnitus is a very varied condition and the data collected here will make it possible to improve the learning algorithm. Your anonymised personal data will also be used for the development of new commercial products by or in collaboration with Glasgow Neuro LTD, will inform academic tinnitus research and might lead to new scientific breakthroughs.
Within the app you can opt out any time from data collection which then also tells Google to disregard any data submitted from your phone. Note that you need to opt out in-app which means you need to do it before you decide to uninstall the app. There is also a menu button which tells you if any data linked to your random ID is stored on Google servers and allows you to request it. The information will be displayed in-app. Analytics or lumped together statistical data is deleted after 14 months on Google servers.
